2021

2021

I want to start this post by acknowledging how unsatisfactory 2020 has been for all of us on a global level! I am, however, going to say nothing else on the matter. I would obviously love to be announcing new concerts and festival bookings for the coming year and updating my gig pages with live dates but I can’t! So, instead, I thought I’d just update you on some of my more recent activities and drop a few hints about some positive plans for the future…

I haven’t been live streaming or doing much online concert type of content over the last year due to various reasons but I have been involved in a couple of virtual events. I have posted little snippets from these on my Facebook page HERE so if you wanted to hear a new song or two have a gander at that. I was also honoured to be involved with the very successful Whitby Folk Week online Whitby @Home 2020 event in August and recorded a 30 minute concert for them. There are loads of other concerts from that week available on their You Tube channel. Just in case you wanted to pretend you were at one of my concerts, here is my set…

Talking of social media content… I have also been (mostly) keeping on top of my “Wardrobe Wednesday” posts, although I must confess that I have recently taken to posting fortnightly. For those of you that don’t already follow me on “the socials” I should probably explain! I somehow managed to commit myself to making weekly Facebook and Instagram posts under the hashtag #wardrobewednesday in response to a request to rank my favourite stage outfits back in May 2019. At the time I thought it was a good laugh and aimed to try and keep it up for a whole year. I am almost ashamed to admit that I have posted just over 80 different outfits to date! Which is only really a testament to my ridiculously excessive wardrobe and hoarding tendencies. I am definitely slowing down now though, and will surely run out of outfits at some point! I’d also like to point out that I am not buying new things in order to feature them in #wardrobewednesday posts and many of the items are 2nd hand/charity shop purchases or items that I have owned and worn at gigs over many years. I am absolutely NOT contributing to the fast fashion industry and am an avid supporter of the sustainable clothing movement! And finally the hints regarding my “plans” for the future… I have been working on a brand new solo album for the last few years. It has been five years since my debut album was released and a second one is more than overdue! I can’t promise when it will actually materialise due to the current circumstances, but I can promise that I have curated a full album of songs and they are ready and waiting to be recorded. Some of them are songs you have heard at my gigs and some of them are brand spanking new songs that you are yet to hear. Many of them fall into my collection of songs ever-so succinctly entitled “Songs In Which Women Do Bad Things To Men And Get Away With It”. I will keep you updated as to when to expect that new album!

I have other plans for the future, including exciting plans to record a new duo album, buuuuuut I’m going to leave that for another post. In the likely event that nothing much happens over the next few months, I need to save up some interesting things to post about later this Spring!
